As a leading enterprise in the global ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene (UHMWPE) fiber sector, XINGI TECH Co., Ltd. has consistently adhered to an innovation-driven development strategy and treats intellectual property protection as vital support for its core competitiveness. Especially as its global business footprint continues to expand, the company attaches great importance to full-lifecycle patent management and, by systematically carrying out patent risk prevention and control, has built a solid barrier for high-quality overseas expansion.
To further consolidate the patent compliance foundation for overseas operations, the company proactively engaged the Nantong Intellectual Property Protection Center and launched a dedicated service for patent infringement risk analysis, also known as freedom to operate (FTO). FTO is a core due-diligence step before a product enters the market; it systematically assesses the patent infringement risks of implementing a given technology and serves as a safety valve for companies going global.During the project, the company’s technical and sales teams worked closely with the protection center’s dedicated service team to comprehensively review the company’s core technical points, the technical characteristics of its main products, and its future overseas market plans. Drawing on global patent database resources, the two sides conducted an all-round infringement risk screening of the relevant technologies and products covering key export destinations, using multi-dimensional searching, item-by-item comparison of technical features, and scientific assessment of risk levels. They identified potential risk points in detail, scientifically classified them as high, medium, and low risk, and formulated multi-dimensional response strategies such as design-around, patent licensing, and invalidity defense for each risk level. A dedicated FTO analysis report was produced, clearing intellectual property obstacles for the company’s core products going global. The completion of this dedicated FTO project is an important milestone in the company’s efforts to improve its intellectual property protection system. The results not only enabled the company to effectively avoid potential infringement disputes during overseas expansion, but also helped it further clarify its research and development direction and optimize its overseas patent layout. Based on the recommendations of the dedicated report, the company has further improved its overseas patent application plan and adjusted the technology iteration roadmap for its core products, significantly accelerating their expansion in core markets such as the European Union and North America.“A sound patent risk prevention and control system is the ballast for our overseas expansion,” said a relevant executive of the company. In the future, XINGI TECH will continue to increase its investment in intellectual property work. On the one hand, it will deepen cooperation with professional intellectual property service agencies and establish a routine FTO screening mechanism, completing patent risk screening in advance for every new product planned for launch and every new market it plans to enter. On the other hand, it will further strengthen its own patent layout and continue to build high-value patent portfolios, so that intellectual property work truly becomes core support for the company’s innovation-driven development and global layout, helping “Created in China” gain a firm foothold and go further in the global market.
