On the afternoon of 8 December, Professor Li Binrong, Secretary of the CPC Party Committee of the College of Materials Science and Engineering at Donghua University, led 14 experts and professors from the Youth Science Center of the State Key Laboratory for Modification of Chemical Fibers and Polymer Materials at Donghua University to the company for a research visit. Company executives Xia Jianhua and Ren Daxian received them throughout the visit.
The delegation first toured the fiber production lines and then held a discussion in the company’s conference room. After a corporate video of XINGI TECH was shown, Mr. Xia gave the delegation a detailed introduction to the company’s history, production scale, product specifications and varieties, product characteristics, application fields, market prospects and development goals. Mr. Ren held in-depth discussions with members of the delegation on issues related to fiber production technology, and exchanged views with the experts and professors on the direction of further research.
The experts and professors from Donghua University praised the achievements XINGI TECH has made in the specialty fiber field in recent years. Secretary Li Binrong said that bringing teachers from the Youth Science Center to XINGI TECH for this research visit served three purposes: first, to understand the company’s technical needs and, by leveraging the university’s strength in concentrating talent, provide the company with technical support; second, to understand the company’s talent needs and supply it with outstanding graduates; and third, to explore channels for further cooperation in talent development. Chen Fengkun, a professor at the College of Materials Science and Engineering at Donghua University and a member of the 16th Technology Town Chief Group in Rudong, remarked that XINGI TECH is the world’s best producer of ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene (UHMWPE) fiber, and that XINGI TECH and Academician Zhu Meifang’s team already have sound cooperation in the UHMWPE fiber field. He expressed the hope that XINGI TECH and Donghua University would cooperate more closely in the application of new technologies, especially on projects with the potential for implementation, to support the company’s high-quality development.
It is understood that the State Key Laboratory for Modification of Chemical Fibers and Polymer Materials is based at Donghua University and traces its origins to China’s first chemical fiber program. It was approved in 1992 by the State Planning Commission for establishment. It passed national acceptance in 1996 and was rated an outstanding state key laboratory in 2018. It is the first state key laboratory in China’s fiber and textile materials field. Positioned at the international frontier of fiber materials and closely tied to national strategic needs and the needs of the national economy and people’s livelihood, the laboratory has made important contributions in breaking foreign monopolies in the high-performance fiber field, leading the industry beyond advanced international levels in the civilian fiber field, and conducting frontier exploratory research on biomass fibers and inorganic fibers. The laboratory’s director is Professor Zhu Meifang, an Academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences.
