Compared with previous years’ provincial major projects, the 2023 major projects display several new features. First, this year’s project structure has continued to improve. To further strengthen support for the real economy, Jiangsu has appropriately increased the number of high-level manufacturing projects this year, arranging 158 in all, 21 more than last year. Second, the regional distribution is better coordinated. Suzhou and Nanjing’s new-generation information technology, Wuxi’s integrated circuits, Changzhou and Yancheng’s new energy, and Lianyungang’s petrochemicals and other key industries have all seen markedly greater concentration, and the number and quality of projects in central and northern Jiangsu are generally better than last year. Third, project quality has continued to improve. Among the investors, more than 40 are Fortune Global 500 companies, nearly 100 are listed companies, and there are also nearly 30 single-champion enterprises.

Li Xiaolei, Deputy Director of the Jiangsu Provincial Government Services Office, said that next Jiangsu will roll out for major projects the practices of “start construction upon land acquisition”, “issue certificates upon land delivery” and “deliver upon completion” in order to optimize the approval model and accelerate the construction of major projects.
