Features and Advantages of UHMWPE Fiber Cut-Resistant Gloves

According to statistics, hand injuries account for 25 percent of all work-related injury accidents. China has a large industrial workforce and labor-intensive industries, so in order to control and reduce hand injuries, various mechanical-protection gloves have been developed, including gloves made of canvas, cowhide, pigskin, flannel and roving, or of canvas mixed with leather.ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene (UHMWPE) fiber cut-resistant gloves have developed rapidly thanks to their comfortable feel, excellent performance and exceptionally long service life, and are increasingly favored by workers abroad.

As China’s economic development and living standards continue to rise, people pay more attention to the working environment, workplace safety and occupational health, and demand for UHMWPE fiber cut-resistant gloves will continue to expand.

UHMWPE fiber cut-resistant gloves are made by wrapping UHMWPE filament with other fibers such as polyester, nylon, spandex, glass fiber or steel wire and then knitting them on a 13-gauge glove machine. Considering slip resistance, moisture resistance and the operating environment, the gloves also require dipping and shaping treatments. In addition, for workplaces with special static electricity requirements, conductive fibers can be added during glove weaving to develop UHMWPE cut-resistant gloves with antistatic properties.

Main Features

  • Excellent Protective Performance

Because UHMWPE fiber offers high strength, high modulus, cut resistance and aging resistance, cut-resistant gloves made mainly from it also provide excellent protection, especially in cut resistance, tear resistance and abrasion resistance.

  • Exceptionally Long Service Life

The service life of gloves is judged mainly by their abrasion resistance. If the coating peels off or the fingers tear after a period of use, the protective function of the gloves declines and they should be replaced promptly. The abrasion resistance of UHMWPE cut-resistant gloves is more than 70 times that of cotton yarn gloves, and their actual service life is 6 to 10 times longer.

  • Good Comfort

Compared with other protective gloves, UHMWPE fiber cut-resistant gloves have no coating on the back, are breathable and comfortable, and offer outstanding abrasion resistance and cut resistance, good elasticity, a comfortable fit and easy cleaning. The product’s notable features are extreme abrasion resistance, good elasticity, easy on and off, breathable comfort, no interference with hand joint movement, easy handling at work and better grip, making them particularly suitable for mechanical processing and operation as well as labor protection in other industries. Because dry-spun fibers feature “fine denier and high strength, a soft hand, good spinnability and no solvent residue,” the cut-resistant gloves made from them have an even softer feel, with clearly noticeable moisture-wicking and cooling effects. Dry-spun fiber is also easy to weave into fabric for sewing gloves and protective aprons, or to cut and spin into yarn for knitted gloves that are softer and slip-resistant, further improving the applicability of the gloves.
